Bible Enthusiasts lesson for September

"Trusting God in Every Season"

Lesson Overview:

July is often a time of rest, reflection, and transition—whether through travel, summer break, or preparing for what's next. This lesson focuses on what it means to trust God not just in the good times, but in every season of life. We’ll explore how God's promises, presence, and power sustain us in times of change, challenge, or uncertainty.

Trusting God in Every Season

Key Passages:

  • Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
  • Ecclesiastes 3:1 – “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
  • Psalm 31:14-15 – “But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God. My times are in thy hand...”
  • Isaiah 26:3-4 – “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

Lesson Outline

1. Every Season Has a Purpose

  • Scriptural Basis: Ecclesiastes 3:1 – "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven."
  • Explanation: Life is full of seasons—joy and sorrow, growth and waiting. God ordains each one for a reason.
  • Application: Reflect on the season you're in. Instead of rushing through it, ask God what He wants you to learn or how He wants you to grow.

2. Trusting God with Your Whole Heart

  • Scriptural Basis: Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart…”
  • Explanation: True trust means relying fully on God’s wisdom and not trying to figure everything out on our own.
  • Application: Surrender your plans to God. Begin each day with a simple prayer: “Lord, I trust You to lead me today.”

3. God Is in Control of Your Time and Future

  • Scriptural Basis: Psalm 31:14-15 – “But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God. My times are in thy hand…”
  • Explanation: Your life is not random—God holds your days, your seasons, and your future. Even when things feel uncertain, He is working for your good.
  • Application: Write down areas where you feel unsure or anxious about the future. Pray over them, and give them to God, trusting that His timing is perfect.

4. Trust Brings Peace

  • Scriptural Basis: Isaiah 26:3-4 – “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
  • Explanation: When we fix our minds on God instead of our problems, He gives us peace that the world cannot give.
  • Application: Practice keeping your mind on God through Scripture memory, worship, and journaling your prayers and blessings.

Practical Applications and Reflections

  1. Build a Trust Habit – Start or end each day by reading a Psalm and asking God to help you trust Him more deeply.
  2. Share Your Story – Encourage someone this month by sharing a time God helped you through a tough season.
  3. Stay Anchored in the Word – Make a short list of go-to verses (like Proverbs 3:5-6) that remind you to trust God during uncertain times.

In Summary

Seasons change, but God remains the same. Whether you’re in a season of joy, transition, uncertainty, or challenge, He invites you to trust Him with your whole heart. Trust brings peace. Trust brings direction. Trust strengthens our walk with God. As you move through July, let every day be a fresh opportunity to say, "Lord, I trust You."

Discussion Questions:

  1. What season of life are you currently in? How is God working in it?
  2. Why is it sometimes hard to trust God fully? What helps you surrender control?
  3. How can trusting God bring peace in a time of transition or uncertainty?

Homework:

Read Psalm 37 this week. Highlight every verse that speaks about trusting God. Write a short personal prayer asking God to help you trust Him more in your current season.
